This book is about a self-made millionaire, Jay Gatsby, that after the war reunites with the women who apparently is the love of his life. When they finally reunite, a set of tragic events takes place.
I just felt in love with this book, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s writing is just priceless, I couldn’t put it down, honestly, I read it in two days and it only took me that long because I was in the middle of my college exams.
The characters themselves seem shallow and empty, lacking in morality but there is an elegance to it. I believe the author made the characters this way in order to make a sarcastic social commentary, criticising the absence of morality of the rich and self-centred individuals who live of the work of the poor.
“I believe that on the first night I went to Gatsby’s house I was one of the few guests who had actually been invited. People were not invited – they went there.”
I just loved this book.
Keep on reading!
